Background: Cancer-related pain is one of the greatest scared consequences of cancer and its treatment. Also, cancer patients having recurrent interaction with a variety of health providers, their pain is commonly uncontrolled. Cancer-related pain identified as vital symptoms that influence on the quality of life among cancer patients. Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of pain nursing intervention guidelines on oncology patients’ health outcome.Research design: Quasi experimental design was used in this study. Sample: A purposive sample of 94 cancer patients with a pain reported 4 or more on a 0 to 10 numeric screening scale. Setting: The study was conducted in oncology unit at Mansoura University and Port Saied General Hospitals. Methods: The study implement the National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines for cancer related pain, brief pain inventory and Pain management barriers were measured at baseline, one month, and three months after applying the intervention guidelines. Results: Participants experienced significant improvements in pain degrees at one-month assessment, and these improvements were continued at three-months assessment. Conclusion: The nursing intervention practice based on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network fatigue guideline was effective in reducing pain severity. Recommendation: Pain should be assessed at least twice per day for cancer patient. Also, the patients need to receive educational materials for pain management and to reduce the barriers

Background: Hypovolemic shock is a severe life threatening emergency affecting all organ systems. Nurses play a vital role in caring of patients with post traumatic hypovolemic shocked. Aim: Assess nurses 'knowledge and practice regarding patients with post traumatic hypovolemic shock. Subjects and Method: A descriptive research design was used. Setting: The study was conducted in intensive care unit in Damietta general hospital and port-said governmental hospitals Subjects: A convenient sample of 50 nurses participated in the study Tools: data was collected using two tools, Nurses' Knowledge questionnaire and observational check list for nurses' practice. Results: The result of study indicated that 54% of studied nurses had satisfactory knowledge while 66% had satisfactory practice Conclusion: More than half of the studied nurses had satisfactory knowledge and practice regarding patients with post traumatic hypovolemic shocked. Recommendations: There are obvious needs for conducting in-service educational and training programs to improve nurses' knowledge and practice regarding patients with post traumatic hypovolemic shock.

Background: Alteration in sensory perception that occurs during anti neoplastic chemotherapy can seriously affect the health and nutritional status of patients, everyday life activities and recovery possibilities. Aim: This study aimed to assessment of sensory perception alteration for patients receiving anti neoplastic chemotherapy. Subjects and method: Across section study design using a mixed-methods study combining qualitative and quantitative approaches of data collection was adapted. A convenient sample from patients receiving anti neoplastic chemotherapy that were available within 6 months. The present study included a group of 100 Cancer patients receiving ACH. Data were collected through Sensory administrated questionnaire for quantitative data and interview schedule for qualitative data collection. Results: The majority of the patients in the study displayed alteration of taste perception reported the highest mean value (66.35) followed by sense of tactile perception alteration (57.54) then visual perception alteration(45.41) followed by hearing perception alteration (39.81) then sense of position perception alteration(37.97) and finally was sense of smell perception alteration (34.61) ,there are statistically significant relation between sense of vision and sense of tactile perception alteration with the starting date of ACH at p value ˂ 0.05. Also, six themes were identified in the current study which reported that more than half of patients express taste perception alterations. Recommendations: conducting educational programs to improve patient's knowledge and a wariness regarding receiving of ACH. Conclusion: Sensory perception alterations during ACH are significant complaints of cancer patients. In addition to reducing life satisfaction, poor compliance and even decreased response to therapy.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide and it is one of the most commonly diagnosed types of cancer at an older age. The gerontological nurse is one of the professionals who act as an educator, health promoter, direct care provider in screening and motivator for older adults to adopt a healthy lifestyle behavior for early detection and prevention of CRC.Aim: The present study aimed to determine the effect of nursing interventions on knowledge and perceptions regarding colorectal cancer among community-dwelling older adults. Research design: Quasi experimental design was used in this study.Setting:The study was conducted in El-Waffa club of elderly persons at Alexandria, Egypt. Sampling:Sixty older adults aged 60 years and above were recruited in the study, who have no cognitive impairment, have no or mild depression, able to read and write and not currently diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Method:Six tools were used as follows: Mini-Mental State Examination Scale, Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form, Older Adults Socio-Demographic and Clinical Data Structured Interview Schedule, Colorectal Cancer Knowledge Questionnaire, Colorectal Cancer Perceptions scale, and older adults' health practices regarding prevention of colorectal cancer. Results: Current study revealed that mean post-test practices and perceptions scores are significantly higher than pre-test scores regarding colorectal cancer among the study subjects. Conclusion: Nursing interventions were significantly improved the studied seniors’ practices, perceptions regarding CRC. Recommendations: Raising awareness of the public about CRC, its management, its prevention, and CRC screening measures in all various health settings.

background: As with any drug or medication, vaccines also require special attention because, though they are considered safe and beneficial to control diseases, they can trigger mild or even severe adverse events. Aim: assess nurse’s knowledge and practice regarding adverse events of vaccines in expanded program on immunization in health care centers. Research design: A descriptive research design used in the current study. Setting: all available health care centers (14) & the only health office in Port Said city. Sample: All available nurses working in vaccination clinic, with total number of 64 nurses. Tools: data collected by two tools: tool one: Nurse’s knowledge of vaccination and adverse event Questionnaire, tool two: observational checklists to assess nurse's practice about vaccination. Results: regarding the general knowledge of nurses of vaccines 96.9% of studied nurses had satisfactory knowledge, while 53.1% of studied nurses had satisfactory knowledge about contraindications of vaccines. 40.6% of nurses had unsatisfactory knowledge about adverse events of vaccines, moreover, 57.8% of the studied nurses had inadequate practice before and at the beginning of the vaccination session, while 93.8% of studied nurses had adequate practice during the vaccination session.Conclusion: most nurses had satisfactory score regarding overall knowledge of immunization, more than half of studied nurses had unsatisfactory knowledge regarding adverse event of vaccines. Moreover, more than half of studied nurses had inadequate practice. Recommendations: Establish training programs reinforce knowledge and practice of nurses related to adverse event of vaccines, continues training for nurses to keep them up to date in relation to immunization.

Abstract Background: Women reproductive rights is nursing concern which is considered vital importance and one that has wide spread implications on health, wellbeing and development of the entire population. Reproductive health problems are leading cause of women's ill health and death worldwide. Aim: Evaluate the effect of educational guideline on student nurse knowledge and attitude regarding women reproductive rights. Design: A quasi-experimental research design. Sample: 83 female nursing students in the third and fourth academic year, purposive sample. Tools of data collection: Structured Interviewing, and women reproductive rights attitude assessment scale Results: A statistically significant improvement was observed among studied sample knowledge pre intervention compared to post intervention, significant improvement was observed among studied sample attitude pre intervention compared to post intervention, and the majority was satisfied with application of educational sessions regarding women rights. The study conclusion that there were statistically significant changes immediately following the introduction of the program and throughout the follow-up process regarding the analyzed sample awareness and perceptions relating to reproductive rights of women. Recommendation: the present recommended an educational guideline was suggested to be replicated in another setting and on another sampling.

Background: It is vital to increase nurses’ quality of work life because this has the potential both to improve organizational citizenship and ensure an adequate nursing work force. Aim: To explore the relationship between organizational citizenship behavior and quality of work life among nurses in Port Said hospitals. Subjects and Method: A descriptive comparative correlation research design was utilized. Setting: This study was conducted in General Port Said hospital and Atta Specialized hospital. Subjects: A sample of 207 nurses who at job in time of the study. Tools of data collection: Two tools included organizational citizenship behavior scale and quality of work life components. Results: Showed that, high percentage of studied nurses agreed on organizational citizenship behavior scale. It was determined that the nurses obtained the highest score from the altruism, conscientiousness dimension followed by courtesy. Regarding quality of work life components, it was found that around half and more of the studied person agreed on overall quality of work life. Conclusion:There was positive correlation among organizational citizenship behavior and dimensions of quality of work life. Recommendation: Increase training programs in hospitals help nurses to achieve the required skills and improve communication among nurses.

Background:The clinical learning environment refers to the learning placement that provides opportunities to integrate theory into practice, build clinical decision-making abilities, and develop a professional identity.Aim: to assess the perception of secondary nursing school students regarding their clinical learning environment and clinical supervision in Port Said City.Subjects and Method: A descriptive correlational research designwas used for the current study in three secondary nursing schools at Port- Said city. The study subjects will include 360 femalestudents.Two tools were used for data collection; Clinical learning environment inventory actual and expected form(CLEI), and clinical supervision questionnaire(CSQ).Results:The current study revealed that the majority of nursing students reported that there was low level of actual clinical learning environment (66.47%), andthe majority of nurse students had a high level of expected clinical learning environment (76.4%), also more than half of nurse students had a moderate level of clinical supervision (56.9%).Conclusion:It was evidenced that there was a significant difference between actual and expected clinical environments. Also the results suggested significant relationship between clinical learning environment and clinical supervision. Recommendations:The main recommendations are suggested, considering students’ expectations of clinical teaching environment and decreasingthe gap between the actual and expectedclinical environments is necessary. In addition,continuous studies on clinical teaching environment evaluation and their results, and to assess clinical instructors’ and clinical staff opinions about the clinical teaching environment are recommended.

Background: Today, maintaining quality while eliminating risk is a major challenge facing everyone in the healthcare delivery system. Also, the Patients, healthcare system expect the best care possible, and as well as administrators of healthcare organizations expect healthcare providers to deliver this best care in the most efficient manner. Design: A methodological research design was used to design and validating a tool to assess risks affected hospitalized patient in Port Said city. Setting: The study was conducted in Port Said General Hospital and El –Zohour Hospital. Subject: A sample of 35 experts (faculty and non-faculty members) in nursing and medical field was recruited (jury group). Opinionnaire validating sheet was used for data collection. Results: The highest percentage of the jury group members agreed upon all items, with no statistically significant differences between the two jury groups. The highly reliability coefficient was for the general work condition domain 0.969, while the lowest was for fire measures domain 0.453. Conclusion: The results demonstrated that the majority of two jury group agreed upon the general form (face validity), content of the environmental risk factors tool. Recommendations: Further studies are needed for testing the applicability of the tool. Generalize the designed tool to be used in other hospitals in the country.

Background: Environmental risk as the Probability value of an undesirable event and its consequences that arise from a spontaneous, natural origin or from a human action (physical or administrative) that is transmitted through the environment. The study aimedto test applicability of designed tool to assess environmental risk factors affect hospitalized patient in Port Said city. A methodological design was used for data collection.Setting:The study was conducted in Port Said General Hospital and El –Zohour Central Hospital. The study sample consists of three groups were; health team members (physician and nurses)(n=260),Housekeepers (n=39),andpatients (n=60). Two tools were used for data collection; questionnaire sheet, and observational checklists.Results:The highly reliability coefficient was for the general work condition domain (0.969), while the lowest was for fire measures domain (0.453). The highest mean score of opinion about the importance of the environmental risk factors tool was among nurses, followed by physicians and the lowest mean score of opinion was among patients .Conclusion: The results demonstrated that the majority of environmental risk factors assessment tool where applicable, in inpatient units in two hospitals, while more applicable in El-Zohour Hospital than Port Said General Hospital. Recommendation: The environmental risk factors assessment tool should be provided for each department in health organization.

Background:unparalleled changes which the nurses face in the present healthcare system have created an environment in which individual nurses must take control of their careers and futures.Aim:Determine factors influencing career development among nursing staff at Port-Said governmental hospitals. Design: Descriptive correlational design was used. Setting: This study was carried out in all departments at four hospitals affiliated to the ministry of health in Port Said city namely: Port-said general hospital, Port-fouad general hospital, EL-Zhour general hospital and El-Nasr general hospital. Subjects: This study was included two groups, Group Ι: all nursing managers with total number of (73). Group ΙΙ:staff nurses,Stratified random sample were done to recruits staff nurses with total number of (274) staff nurses. Tool of date collection: Career Development Questionnaire was used; it includes three factors measured by (95 items): personal factors, Job related factors and organizational factors. Results:Current study revealed that Job related factors have highest score (71.2%), then personal factors (68.9%), followed by organizational factors(66.9%)which influencing nursing career development. Conclusion: There was statistically significant positive correlation betweenpersonal factors (nurses' personal behaviors, satisfaction, empowerment, career development practice), Job related factors (autonomy, supervisor support)and organizational factors (management support, the career developmental plans) with nursing career development.Recommendations:generalize development of policies and plans for enhancing career development and increase nurses performance. In addition, administration support: through, in-services training programs, provide resource; and opportunities for further education to upgrade the general awareness level of career development strategies

background: The clinical instructors are an essential link between the academic program and clinical practice. By promoting critical thinking, assisting in the development of problem-solving skills, fostering independence, enhancing competency and confidence, and helping students to improve their clinical skills, and performance.This study aims to: design and validate tool to assess clinical instructors' performance at technical institutes of nursing.Design: Methodological design was utilized. Settings:This study was conducted at faculties of nursing at: port said university, Alexandra university, Ain shams university, Cairo university. Subject:Experts group from nursing faculty members. Tools:The data was collected using: an experts' opinion sheet.Results: Findings of this study revealed that from 65 items and 21 sub-items: 47 items and 13 sub-items had high values of content validity ratio; those items are valid and remained in the tool. Also, Those items had excellent reliability coefficient (r = 0.968), and Cronbach's alpha for this tool indicated excellent internal consistency. Conclusion: This article concluded that the proposed assessment tool had an appropriate level of validity and reliability.Recommendations: Based on the findings of this study, recommended that: Managers of the Technical Institutes of Nursing should use the proposed assessment tool to evaluate clinical instructors' performance to incorporate unused behaviors into their practice.
