Developing Discharge Guidelines for Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
Background: Today laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is the gold standard treatmentof gall bladder diseases all over the world. Patients undergoing laparoscopiccholecystectomy must be the focus when planning a hospital discharge process bygiving them effective practical discharge guidelines that will increase their confidencein managing their care at home, so that, Aim: of the present study was to developdischarge guidelines for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Design: Adescriptive exploratory design was utilized in this study. Setting: The study wasconducted at the surgical departments and out patients` clinics ofGastroenterologyCenter at MansouraUniversity. Sample: A purposive sample of 200adult patients, from both genders underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy from theabove mentioned setting within 6 months. Tools for data collection: 1) A structureinterviewing questionnaire sheet to assess patients` knowledge. 2) An observationalchecklist to assess patients' practices at pre / postoperative period.3) Health conditionassessment sheet to assess patients` health condition on 1st follow up visit at outPatient's clinic. Results: The mean age of the studied patients was 43.25 ± 11.01. Morethan half (62.0%) of studied patients had unsatisfactory level of knowledge as regardslaparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery as (pre/post-operative care and dischargeinstructions). Most (90.5%) of them had unsatisfactory level of practices as(pre/postoperative practices) added to poor health condition assessment for more than half(60.0%) of the studied sample Conclusion: There was a statistical significant relationbetween patients` total knowledge scores and the total practices scores as regards theirsocio-demographic characteristics. Moreover, a highly positive correlation wasindicated between patients` knowledge & practices and their health conditionassessment. Recommendations: Further research studies are needed to focus onstudying factors affecting quality of life for patients undergoing laparoscopiccholecystectomy.

Knowledge Attitude and Reported Practices toward Optimal Nutrition among Preparatory School Students
Background: Nutrition is a major component and determinant of the quality of life, sointake adequate and balanced nutrition is foundations for good health in adulthood. Theaim of this study: was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices toward optimalnutrition among the governmental preparatory school students in Dekerness city atDakahlia governorate. Research design: a descriptive design ( cross-section ) was used.Sample: this study included 303 students who were selected by a simple randomsampling method. The used tool was a self-reported questionnaire which developed bythe researcher and includes socio-demographic characters of the students, assessment oftheir knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding optimal nutrition. Results: the totalnumber of males was (50.2%) while the total number of females was (49.8%). Thesatisfactory level of all students' knowledge was (61.4%), the satisfactory level of allstudents' attitudes was (75.6%) and the satisfactory level of all students' reportedpractices regarding optimal nutrition was (72.6%). Conclusion: the majority of allstudents had a satisfactory level of knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding optimalnutrition. Although there was no statistically significant difference between theknowledge score and attitude score, but there was a statistically significant differencebetween knowledge score and practice score. At the same time there was statisticallysignificant difference between the attitude score and practice score of the students.Recommendation: A health educational program should be implemented forPreparatory School Students about the importance of the proper nutrition and define thehealth problems resulting from insufficient dietary intake.

Effect of Educational Training Program for Mothers about their Cancer Children Care and its Effect on Children Health Status
Background: Cancer diagnosis and its treatment highly affects negatively onhealth –related quality of life of children with cancer in physical, social,psychological, and cognitive dimensions in addition to put their care giver in achallenging situation.The aim: of this study was to evaluate the effect ofeducational training program for mothers about care of their children with cancerand its effect on children health status. Quasi-experimental research design wasused in the study, a convenient sample of 50 mothers and their children with cancerat inpatient and out- patient departments at Oncology Institute in Mansoura Cityfor six months from November 2013 to April 2014.The tools: of data collectionwere an interview questionnaire formto collect data about socio-demographiccharacteristics for studied mothers and their children, assessment of knowledge&reported practice related childhood cancer and chemotherapy sheet and assessmentof children health status scale. The results: revealed that There were statisticallysignificant improvements in mother's knowledge and reported practice with p.value P<0.001.Subsequently, the results lead to a positive impact on theirchildren's health status (physical, psychological, and social status),while there wereno statistically significant improvement in children school achievement and theirself- care .The study recommended: periodic or continuoustraining programshould be applied for mothers and their child in the pediatric oncology departmentsto improve their knowledge and practice about childhood cancerwhich can increaseimproving in physical, psychological and social dimensions for children andsubsequently improving of school achievement and self-care as possible.

Assessment of Nutritional Needs for Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis
Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a prevalent chronic condition and theincidence of End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is expected to continue to climb in thecoming decade. CKD has significant health and a lifestyle implication for thoseaffected, including increased risk of cardiovascular disease, malnutrition and is apublic health burden particularly in those patients who progress to end stage renalfailure or ESRD. This study aimed to: assess nutritional needs for patients undergoinghemodialysis. A descriptive design was applied in the current study. The study wasconducted at hemodialysis department at El -Hussein university hospital in Cairo andat Port Said hospitals disturbed as following, Port Said General Hospital and PortFouad General Hospital. A convenience sample of 100 patients undergoinghemodialysis was included. Three tools were used for data collection; Structuredinterview questionnaire, Dietary assessment questionnaire and Nutritional needsassessment questionnaire. Results of the study revealed that, more than three quartersof studied HD patients (80%) have abnormalities of nutritional parameters and thereare a statically significances between sociodemographic variables, some of nutritionalneeds and dietary habits whereas (p< 0.05). Conclusion: abnormalities of nutritionalparameters are over prevalent than expected by analysis of dietary food intake. Thecurrent study recommended that, dietetic counseling is very important in HD patients,as well as a reevaluation of the type of dietary protein and energy requirements.

Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Styles of Head Nurses at Governmental Hospitals in Port-Said
Background: Emotional intelligence (EI) has become a global phenomenon due to itsfar reaching implications for individuals, groups, society as a whole and it is critical tobecoming a successful leader. In addition to effective leadership plays an importantrole in the growth and better performance of the organization. The aim: of the presentstudy was to assess the relationship between emotional intelligence and leadershipstyles of the head nurses at governmental hospitals in Port-Said. The research design:was a correlational descriptive design. The subjects of this study consisted of twogroups; Head nurses group (31) and staff nurses group (216), two tools were used fordata collection as the followings: emotional intelligence questionnaire which used toassess emotional intelligence level of head nurses and leadership styles questionnairewhich used to assess leadership styles used by head nurses from staff nurse‘s point ofview. The results: revealed that self-awareness of head nurses scores reported thehighest mean percentage compared to self-regulation in personal competence whereassocial skills scored the highest mean percentage in social competence and allcompetence of emotional intelligence and transformational leadership scored thehighest mean percentage than transactional leadership in advanced styles and allstyles from staff nurse‘s point of view. The study concluded: that there was nostatistically significant correlation between emotional intelligence and leadershipstyles. However, two skills of transformational styles inspirational motivation andindividual consideration had a negative statistically significant correlation with socialcompetence of EI, in addition to, personal competence and total EI was founded forinspirational motivation only. The study recommended: that there are an obviousneeds for educate the new head nurses about emotional intelligence competence andhow to improve their emotional intelligence orientation with leadership styles by theirorganization

Assessment of Knowledge and Reported Practice of Mothers Having Children with Cancer and Undergoing Chemotherapy
Background: Cancer is a life threatening illness that involves emotional distress, fearof the unknown and changes in life priorities for the child and family. It is at asignificant risk of depression for mothers because of the frequent stressful diagnostictests, treatments and side effects of treatments.Aim: Assessof knowledge and reportedpractice of mothers having children with cancer and undergoingchemotherapy.Design: Adescriptive research design was used in the study. Datacollection: a purposive sample of 50 mothers and their children with cancer atinpatient and out- patient departments at Oncology Institute in Mansoura City. Tools:An interview questionnaire formto collect data about socio-demographiccharacteristics for studied mothers and their children, assessment of knowledgerelated childhood cancer and chemotherapy sheet and reported practice of mothersrelated to care of their children who undergoing chemotherapy sheet. Results:revealed that, only 14% of mothers had satisfactory knowledge related childhoodcancer and chemotherapy .In relation to total reported practice, only 34.0% of thestudied mothers had total reported practice related to side effects management ofchemotherapy.The study recommended: developing frequent educational trainingprograms for mothers of children with cancer about care of their children whoundergoing chemotherapy through updated posters, booklets and brochures and arepeat of this research on a large sample and in various places in Egypt for improvingmother's knowledge and practice.

Health Guidelines about Cervical Cancer for Women and its Effects on their Screening Behavior at El-Suez City
Background: To evaluate effect of health guidelines about cervical cancer for womenon their screening behavior. Subject and Methods: It was carried out in the oncologyclinics at health insurance hospital at Suez city using a quasi-experimental (pre &posttest) design, Purposive non-probability sampling technique. The study subjectswere consisted of 102 women attending for follow up in the oncology clinics. Aninterview schedule was designed and utilized to collect the necessary data. A selfadministered questionnaire was used. Results: showed very poor knowledge (2.0%)before the implementation of the health guidelines program. This statisticallyimproved after the program to reach 98.0%.s. Meanwhile the study revealed that23.5% accepted the screening for cervical cancer, while the rest had many healthseeking barriers. Conclusion: Health guidelines was effective in improving theknowledge and behavior of women regarding cervical cancer screening andvaccination. There was a significant improvement post intervention in all items ofknowledge regarding cervical cancer.

Assessment of Health Needs and Self-Efficacy for Patients with Colostomy
Background: Colostomy is a surgical procedure which may be created due to cancer,inflammatory bowel diseases, bowel ischemia, diverticulitis and trauma. Aim: thisstudy aimed to assess the health needs and self-efficacy for patients with colostomy.Methods: A descriptive explorative design was utilized for the conduction of thisstudy , which done in the Surgical Outpatients` Clinics at EL-Mabra Hospital and ELTadamon Hospital which are affiliated to Health Insurance Organizations at Port SaidCity. Subjects & method: A purposive sample of (50) adult patients from both sexeswith colostomy and taken from the above mentioned settings. Tool 1:A structuredinterview questionnaire sheet which consisted of a) socio demographic data sheetand b) Health needs assessment sheet for the studied patients to assess (physical,psychological, social, spiritual and educational needs) .Tool II: Patients` medicalrecord: It was developed to assess past and present medical history as (cause ofcolostomy, type, current treatment and time since operation) and Tool III: StomaCare Self - Efficacy Scale. Results: There were statistically significant relationsbetween patients‘ age groups, gender, job and educational level as regards their healthneeds and self-efficacy. Conclusion: It was concluded that, the studied patients hadhealth needs and low level of self-efficacy. It was affected by (age, gender, education,job, colostomy causes and types). Recommendations: Further research studies areneeded to focus on studying factors that affect the health needs and self-efficacy forpatients with colostomy

Self-Care Program for Improving the Daily Stressors of Osteoarthritic Elderly Patients Residents of Elderly Homes in Port Said City
Background: Elders living with osteoarthritis perceive many chronic daily stressorsalong with a loss of function, diminished independence, and the progression of anillness without a cure .Aims of This study: was to evaluate the effect of self-care programfor improving the daily stressors of osteoarthritic elderly patients residents in elderlyhomes in Port Said City. Design quasi-experimental study. Sample the study wasconducted on 42 elders having the inclusion criteria. Setting this study was implementedin all geriatric homes in Port Said city (namely: Dar El-Hanan, Dar El-Takreem, and DarMubarak). Tools: the first tool part (I): Socio-demographic characteristics of the studiedelders. Part (II): Medical history of osteoarthritic elderly patients, Part (III): HealthAssessment Questionnaire Disability Index, Part (IV): Depression Scale, Part (V): TheArthritis Self-efficacy Scale, Part (VI): osteoarthritis related stressors checklist (part VII):Self-care program. The second tool (2): Anthropometric Measurement. Tools wereused pre, post program and after 3 months. Result the effect of the program waspositive in improving functional abilities, depressed mood, and self-efficacy of theosteoarthritic elderly patients immediately after its implementation but to a lesservalue after 3 months with a statistical significant. Conclusion Based on the results ofthe present study and research hypotheses it can concluded that the implementation ofthe self-care program for osteoarthritic elders is associated with significantimprovements in their functional abilities, depressed mood, and self- efficacy.Recommendations broader implementation of self-care management model in elderlyhomes could reduce the significant current and projected burden of the disease as wellas improve self- care in institutionalized elders.

Nurses' Performance Regarding Caring of Patients Undergoing Blood Transfusion
Background: Blood transfusion is an essential component of modern health care thatsaves millions of lives each year, and it will continue to be so for many years to come.Aim : the current study aimed to assess nurses‘ performance regarding nursing care ofpatients undergoing blood transfusion. Subjects and Methods : A descriptive researchdesign was utilized in this study. The study was carried out at three hospitals affiliated tothe Ministry of Health (Port-Said General Hospital, Port -Fouad General Hospital, and ElZohoer Centeral Hospital). The study sample composed of 134 nurses. The data werecollected using three tools (a structured interview sheet for knowledge, nurses' attitudequestionnaire and an observational checklist for practice. Results: The results of thepresent study revealed that there were highly statistically significant relations between thestudied nurses' total knowledge mean scores and total practice mean scores with theireducational level with p ≤ 0.001. In addition ,there was a highly positive statisticallysignificant correlation between the studied nurses' total knowledge mean scores and theirtotal practice mean scores with p ≤ 0.00 .Conclusion : Based on the results of thepresent study, it can be concluded that, the majority of the studied nurses haveunsatisfactory level of knowledge and less than three-quarters of them have unsatisfactorylevel of practice with more than the half of them have positive attitudes regarding nursingcare of patients undergoing blood transfusion. It was recommended that educationaltraining programs should be provided to nurses to improve their level of knowledge andpractice about nursing care provided to patients undergoing blood transfusion

Assessment of Communication Skills among Nurse Interns' Students of Technical Institute of Nursing during Health Teaching at SuezCanal University Hospitals
Background: Health professional requires communication skills to establish andmaintain effective helping relationships with patients and with each others. Aim: Thecurrent study aimed to assess communication skills among nurse interns' students ofTeaching Institute of Nursing during health teaching at Suez Canal UniversityHospitals. Subjects & Methods: A descriptive design was utilized to meet the aim ofthe research. The study conducted in different departments and units at Suez CanalUniversity Hospitals. All nurse interns' students (84 students) included in this study.They entered the internship program after they pass the fifth-year examination inTechnical Institute of Nursing (five-year system). The data collected by using anobservational checklist. Results: Among 84 nurse interns' students , the majority ofthem were female, single , less than 20 years old and live in urban areas ( 56.0%,83.3%, 97.6% and 60.7%) respectively and two-thirds of respondents (60.7%) hadunsatisfactory results for the communication skills while (39.3%) of them just gotsatisfactory results, in addition to this, that most of the students did not satisfactoryresults on self-preparation and skills of verbal communication during the healtheducation process. conclusions : the majority of the nurse interns' students hadinadequate total preparation, verbal and overall communication skills. But, most ofthem have satisfactory non- verbal communication skills during health teaching with astatistical significant correlation between some of the communication skills amongnurse interns' students and their gender and residence. Recommendations: Preparingstudents to interact and create constructive communicative relationships with patientsis essential to nursing practice. In addition, the curriculum must be included verbal,and non-verbal communication skills in details and students must practice it

Effect of Screening Breast Cancer Nursing Intervention on Women Knowledge, Beliefs and Behavior Attendance to Health Center in Port Said City
Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer and leading cause of deathamong women. Breast cancer screening plays an important role in early detection anddecreasing mortality rate. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate effect of nursingintervention on women knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding breast cancerscreening in health care centers in Port Said city. Methods: A Convenience sample of210 women who attended family planning clinics. This study was carried out in twoprimary health care centers. Data were collected through using three tools, first,structured interviewing questionnaire sheet, second health belief model scale; third toolwas observational checklist for breast self-examination practice. Results: revealed that,there is statically significant improvement of women knowledge, attitudes and practiceregarding breast cancer and its screening after the intervention, also there is statisticallysignificant positive correlation between women's knowledge, attitude, practice of breastself-examination and education. Conclusion:. There was significant remarkableimprovement in women knowledge, BSE practice and attitudes towards breast cancerand its screening after implementation of the educational program Recommendations:The study recommended that, breast cancer screening should be integrated inpreventive health programs in primary health centers, mammography and ultrasoundshould be accessible and acceptable for attendance of primary health care services.
